Pundit Davie Provan believes that Celtic are in a weaker position now than they were last season, something that hasn’t gone down well with their supporters.
The former Celts star has claimed in his column in The Scottish Sun that the club are worse off now, under Neil Lennon, than they were with Brendan Rodgers in charge 12 months ago.
“Celtic are currently weaker than they were last season,” he said.
His reason for this damning statement is the transfer business of his former side.
It does seem a peculiar time to have a dig at the club though, with Lennon starting his first full season back in charge absolutely on fire.
The Bhoys have won six of their seven competitive games this campaign, drawing the other, so fans are probably right to have a go at the legendary but perhaps misguided Provan, who won four league titles with the club during his playing days.
Take a look at some of the best Twitter reactions down below…
Aye just the 12 goals in 2 games …. edouard Christie bayo , sinclair , shved ,hayes gordon on the bench … rogic simunovic, henderson , ralston , kouassi not even in the squad..

Weaker?… fit again Griff & Ntcham, Christie and Ajer now experienced at this level and playing well – I wouldnt say we are weaker now than we were at this point last season – yes we need a couple more in the door – but hardly weaker overall.

Aye, twelve goals in 2 games with 7 different goal scorers and only 2 conceded would indicate he is right ?♂️??
You lot are laughable and predictable. pic.twitter.com/U3BuT1BEcx

I wouldn’t take anything that Provan says seriously

Losing a player who was absent nearly all season V adding several new signings, the reemergence of Leigh Griffiths and Ajer exhibiting the form of an accomplished defender?
Balance of probability only going one way there

First 7 competitive games last season – 4 wins, 2 draws and a defeat. This season 6 wins and a draw.

I think we’re stronger

12 goals in 2 games. Took us to October or so to reach that goal tally. Last year backroom unrest and a poor result in the 1st leg qualifying game with aek. Still plenty of time to go in the window with money . Things couldn’t be anymore different to last season at this time.
