Celtic fans loved the performance of Jonny Hayes during Saturday’s cup final

Celtic supporters have grown very used to celebrating trophy wins, but this weekend’s Scottish Cup triumph over Hearts was sweeter than most.

The 2-1 victory was the final piece of a much-hyped ‘treble treble’ for Neil Lennon’s squad, achieving a feat that will likely never be seen again in Scottish football.

The Hoops have won every domestic competition available to them for three successive years, an achievement that will be remembered for decades to come.

Hearts didn’t let them have it entirely their own way at Hampden, but the class and quality of Celtic’s performers eventually shone through in the second half.

One of the players most praised by supporters in the aftermath was Jonny Hayes, who deputised at left-back in place of the injured Kieran Tierney.

Naturally an attacking winger, the former Aberdeen man made a couple of crucial clearances throughout the 90 minutes and generally gave the side defensive stability on the left flank.

He hasn’t really had a defined role at Celtic this season but has regularly slotted in during big matches when called upon, rarely letting his team down.
