According to the Daily Mail, Dedryck Boyata’s agent, Jacques Lichtenstein, has claimed that Celtic have rejected several offers for the defender despite him desperately wanting a move away from the club.
Boyata has reportedly downed tools with his domestic side over their refusal to sell him. The 27-year-old is in the final year of his contract with the Scottish giants and looks extremely unlikely to accept new terms with the club.
Boyata spent much of this summer in Russia, where he was part of Roberto Martinez’s Belgium squad that reached the semi-finals of the competition.
According to the aforementioned Daily Mail report, following his return from Russia, Boyata attracted the interest of Sevilla, Lazio and Roma, whilst Fulham, Fenerbahce and Olympiakos are all believed to have had bids for the centre-back rejected.
With Boyata able to leave on a free transfer next summer, if Brendan Rodgers wishes to cash in on the defender he must act quickly, whilst the transfer window remains open for him to find a replacement.
These Bhoys fans took to Twitter to give their take on the situation currently surrounding Boyata…
With our club going thorough enough this week who does the guy think he is? The amount of mistakes he has made. If it wasn’t for Rodgers he wouldn’t be the player he is!! Pure disrespect to him and our club HH

The whole debacle has to be affecting the dressing room… if he wants to go let him. The team have bigger things to be thinking about..

He got a couple of games at the World cup and I recon the stories from his better team mates have turned his head, totally unprofessional of him the way he is acting at Celtic and his agent appears to be a crass individual as well, cut him loose, not a time for player power, chancers

Faith , love , gave him a second chance & this is the way he treats his pay masters !!
Didn’t he forget he’s still our player , we set his value ,no him or his agent
Oh and only thing he has is pace … the rest of his game is a joke , don’t get me started on positional sense

Cash in now so we’ve got time to replace him

This seems to be the way modern footballers operate. I get the short career bit but at some level there is a selfishness and lack of loyalty by some players that is ruining the game.

Celtic have contributed massively in turning his career around.
He does not seem to appreciate this and has allowed his agent to run roughshod over his relationship with the club and its fans.
Dedrick needs to realise this and resolve immediately.
