Chris Sutton captured the mood of most Celtic fans when he produced a lunchtime video declaring that Brendan Rodgers’ expected move to Leicester City stinks.
The Irishman conducted business as normal on Sunday against Motherwell and appeared happy and relaxed when he was pictured at training on Monday.
Overnight things changed dramatically with the pace picking up rapidly on Tuesday, as Celtic fans began to realise that Rodgers had no intention of staying for eight in a row never mind ten.
The club released a statement confirming an approach had been made by Leicester City following the departure of Claude Puel, and that Rodgers had indicated a willingness to talk to the Premier League side.
A whole range of emotions have been expressed, including anger directed at the departing manager and the board of directors led by chief executive Peter Lawwell.
Sutton is worshipped by some Celtic fans for his outspoken views which is unusual in the Scottish media and they’re certainly backing his take on Rodgers’ imminent departure.
Here’s a look at what they’ve been saying on Twitter…
“Quite frankly, IT STINKS!” ?

His timing could be better, wait 3 months but I guess the lure of more money to spend on who he wants may sway him away. Gutted

“I’ll be here as long as the club want me” do me a favour, plotting this for weeks, better take Cogerton with him. Money league strikes again, he’ll be out of a job by christmas. That being said, Lawwell and @CelticFC the board have a lot to answer for!! ??

Always remember Rodgers describing it as his dream job and a great place to live, now all he’s done is make himself out to be a liar and a snake, he’s got over 2 years of a contract to run and he’s choosing greed over success he’s letting the supporters and the players down.

Well said Chris, surprised in one way but not too surprised in another way as he always struck me as a guy that if he wasn’t a football manager he’d be a great politician saying all the right things and telling you exactly what you’d want to hear!
