Scott Brown's iconic status was raised a notch or eight after netting the last gasp winning goal against Kilmarnock.

While his shot required a massive assist from the arm of Kilmarnock substitute Alex Bruce to find the net, if there was no Brown there would have been no shot regardless of how wayward it may have been.

Celtic went into the match knowing that a win would take them eight points clear at the top of the SPFL but equally aware that they had lost on their last two visits to Kilmarnock.

It was a grim struggle on the plastic pitch with neither goalkeeper unduly troubled and the match looking certain to end goal-less.

When Kirk Broadfoot was sent off in the 75th minute it handed Celtic an advantage but as the clock reached 89 there was no sign of what was about to follow.

Callum McGregor's deep corner to the back post was cleared towards the edge of the penalty box, Brown met it and the arm of Bruce took the sting out of the shot as it fell over the line - sparking incredible scenes of celebration.

Brown picked up a second yellow card for his celebrations but as he strolled down the tunnel he knew that a major step had been taken towards lifting an eighth successive title.
