Loads of Celtic fans have been having their say on Jack Hendry, after Brendan Rodgers defended his decision to stick with the young centre back.
With a Champions League clash to look forward to this week, Rodgers rested several key players on Saturday against Hearts.
It’s easy to say in hindsight, but the boss will certainly regret his decision to rotate the squad as the Hoops fell to a 1-0 defeat.
However, the boss has defended the decision to play Hendry, despite criticism from loads of fans.
“It’s just about experience, and how do you get experience? Jack Hendry is getting better each game. But how does he get experience? He needs to be exposed to it,” Rodgers said.
“He’s got a really good profile, he’s quick, he’s strong. When he’s asked, he’s really dominant in the air.
“He’s finding a level now that he’s never played at. I think he’s going to step up over the next six months to a year and be a very good player.
It’s fair to say lots of fans don’t agree with the statement that Hendry is “getting better each game”, and at 23 he should really be starting to add consistency to his potential.
With Dedryck Boyata expected to leave the club before the end of August, Hendry will have to take on even more responsibility, but fans are split on the youngster’s future.
Some are happy to back the manager and trust his gut, while others are bashing the comments and calling for Hendry to lose his place.

Spot on – too many of our fans have no patience. Prob the same ones who gave Ntcham the same treatment a year ago!

How do you get experience? You send him out on loan Brendan. It’s a joke this boy is classed as one of the best centre backs at the club. He might be Maldini in 5 years time, he’s not there yet. We need better.

Same was said about Darren O’Dea

He needs a good centre half next to him to guide him through, as does Ajer. Only way they can both improve. Hence why I think we only really need one solid centre back as opposed to two.

Jack Hendry has yet to start a domestic game for Celtic, and leave the field with us in a winning position.
In his 8 domestic starts Celtic have scored just 2 goals and conceded 6.
4 of the games have finished goalless.

Hendry not to blame, worse than him all over the pitch for us. Who was supposed to be tracking lafferty at the goal. Kouassi and Brown nowhere to be seen. Give the boy a break still young.
