Mikael Lustig struggled at right-back as Celtic crashed out of the Champions League with a 2-1 defeat to AEK Athens in the Greek capital on Tuesday night, and Bhoys fans have called on Brendan Rodgers to reinstate Cristian Gamboa to the starting XI.

The Swede got the nod from the Northern Irishman, who should move for a £6.2m-rated English Championship winger who has been made available, in the second leg of the European tie but he really struggled on Tuesday, and questions would have been asked about the 31-year-old following both AEK goals on the night.

Gamboa was named on the substitutes' bench in Athens and while he hasn't been a spectacular signing for the club, he has usually been reliable and offered a real attacking dimension from full-back for the Scottish Premiership holders, and should be full of confidence following a decent 2018 World Cup for Costa Rica.

Celtic supporters were quick to have their say on Lustig and Gamboa via social media, and while one labelled the latter "better than Lustig", another said "Gamboa has got to start".
