Mikael Lustig’s contract at Celtic Park expires at the end of June but many fans would like to see him stay beyond the summer.
The Hoops right-back was one of the club’s ‘treble treble’ heroes on Saturday when his headed assist provided Odsonne Edouard the opportunity to score the winner against Hearts in the Scottish Cup final.
The veteran Swede has also been at Celtic for every single one of the current run of eight league titles in a row, but could miss out on equalling the Scottish record for consecutive league wins next season.
There have been recent reports that he could be set for a return to Sweden, with Malmo offering him a lucrative deal, but with Celtic still needing depth at right-back next season perhaps the Hoops should move to tie down the defender for another year or two.
Keeping the 32-year-old at the club as back-up to a new right-back signed this summer seems like a sensible way forward for all parties.
These fans have taken to Twitter this week to share their thoughts on what the club should do…

He should be kept as backup. We aren’t exactly blessed with defensive cover. Infact. Do we have any at all, Johnny Hayes is about it.
