Ecuadorian midfielder Sergio Quintero has revealed that Celtic have been locked in discussions with his club about a potential switch to Scotland, as reported by The Daily Record.

Quintero has recently enjoyed success with his U-20 national team at the World Cup in Poland, making it to the semi-finals of the competition.

Now he's eyeing a move to European football and believes a potential destination this week is the Hoops.

How does Neil Lennon turn his doubters into believers? The answer lies in the video below...

As quoted by The Daily Record, he said:

"I'm thinking about a move to European football. I'm trying to be calm about it and take it easy.

"The representatives of Celtic have been in talks for some time with the president of Imbabura. An agreement has to be reached this week if the transfer is to go through.

"But if the deal doesn't go through I am relaxed because I have offers from other clubs in Europe and Ecuador. It's important to make the best decision for me.

"It would be very difficult to adapt to life in a country like Scotland, but with time I think I would be able to settle in."

Quintero plays in central midfield and while Celtic have lots of competition in that position already, signing young potential stars of the future is always an aim.

They could need more bodies in the door too, with Neil Lennon making it quite clear he is unhappy with squad option Olivier Ntcham right now after his outspoken comments in French media.

Celtic fans certainly want to see the Ecuadorian in Celtic colours, with many taking to Twitter over the last 24 hours to share their thoughts...
