Celtic are hopeful of bringing in a new signing by Tuesday, according to the Scottish Sun.
They believe Blackburn Rovers centre back Shane Duffy is Brendan Rodgers’ primary target as the Hoops look to shore up a backline which has just two fit central defenders. The paper claims they want a new signing to be included in the squad for the club’s first competitive match of the season next week.
The Celtic team will fly out directly to Gibraltar from their Slovenia training camp to face Lincoln Red Imps in the first leg of the Champions League second qualifying round tie.
In an interview after Celtic’s 2-1 friendly win over Olimpija Ljubljana on Wednesday, Rodgers stated they had “two ongoing items” of transfer business which they would like to finalise before next weeks clash against Lincoln.
The Bhoys are just two weeks into pre-season and the match in Gibraltar will be Rodgers’ first real test as Celtic manager as they begin their European campaign.
