As reported by The Express, La Liga side Villarreal are interested in signing Celtic striker Moussa Dembele this summer.

What's the story?

Almost ever since his arrival in Scotland, Moussa Dembele's name has been in the headlines linking him with a move away to bigger leagues around Europe and that trend looks set to continue ahead of this summer's transfer window.

The Express report that Villarreal are the latest club to show interest in the Frenchman, ready to spend £15m on his transfer.

They have money to burn after the sale of Cedric Bakambu to the Chinese Super League, making the purchase of a centre-forward a priority, say the paper.

Should Celtic sell?

With Dembele's contract running out in 2020, this is perhaps the best summer to fashion a move for the 21-year-old if the club want to maximise potential transfer income.

However, there's also an argument to say that they should try and get another season out of the player with his second term at the club blighted by injuries and lack of fitness.

The player has still scored 15 goals this season but has played less often and at times failed to reach the heights of his debut campaign in the Hoops. Fans are desperate to see him play at his full potential on a consistent basis.

If there's any possibility he could sign a year's contract extension and get a pay rise with the agreement he leaves next summer that would be dream business from Celtic's point of view. It's something they should at least pursue before deciding to cash in.
