Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths is excited by the potential for big name signings under new manager Brendan Rodgers.
The 25-year-old recently picked up the Scottish Premiership Player of the Season award after scoring 40 goals for the Hoops last campaign, but he is looking forward to the Scottish champions improving their squad next season.
He is particularly excited about the rumours that Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard could join his former boss Brendan Rodgers at Celtic Park, telling the Daily Record:
“Big name players are obviously going to be linked with their old manager. If we managed Steven Gerrard it would be a massive coup. Not just for us but for Scottish football as well. It will be interesting to see who the new manager brings in and how he wants to play.”
Gerrard was linked by the Scottish Sun to Celtic after the appointment of Rodgers as manager a couple of weeks ago.
The 36-year-old’s contract is up in December at MLS side LA Galaxy and he is said to be keen on a move back to the UK.
New Celtic boss Rodgers has subsequently denied he has considered a move for the player, but that hasn’t stopped Griffiths speaking enthusiastically about the former England international joining him at Celtic Park.
