Celtic centre back Erik Sviatchenko believes that their Old Firm rivals Rangers won’t challenge for the Scottish Premiership title next season, even though the Hoops lost to the Scottish Championship winners on Sunday.
The match was dominated by Rangers in terms of possession, but Celtic had many more shots with 33 attempts (10 on target) to the Gers’ nine overall.
In response to the the Daily Record‘s questioning when asked if Rangers were ready to challenge Celtic next season, Sviatchenko said:
“No, I don’t think they are.
The Danish defender scored five minutes after half-time in the Scottish Cup semi-final, equalising with a header from a corner, cancelling out Kenny Millar’s first half opener, and sending the match to extra time. He had come on as a first half substitute for the injured Dedryck Boyata.
The 24-year-old only joined from Danish club FC Midtjylland in January for £1.5million and has appeared in 13 matches so far for the Scottish club.
