Celtic manager Neil Lennon has confirmed that striker Vakoun Bayo is suffering from a hamstring problem, speaking to official club outlet Celtic TV.

What's the story?

Bayo signed for the club back in January but missed most of the second half of last season because of injury, featuring in just a few minutes of first-team action.

He returned to training for pre-season and looked sharp in a friendly against Austrian side Wiener SC on Saturday, scoring the winning goal in a 2-1 victory.

Celtic fans aren't happy about Arsenal's bid for one of their key players...

Lennon though has confirmed he again has a hamstring issue, telling Celtic TV:

"Unfortunately we have to wait and see how he is. He felt a little twinge on the hamstring. He was looking really good as well."

With the club left waiting on his status, the player is now a doubt for next Tuesday's season opener away to FK Sarajevo in UEFA Champions League qualifying.

Will Celtic miss him?

Striker Odsonne Edouard is, thankfully for the Hoops, fit and healthy heading into the new season and played their most recent match against Swiss side St Gallen on Tuesday.

Leigh Griffiths, who missed the second part of last term because of personal problems, is now back and available for selection too, hitting red hot form in pre-season friendlies.

The Scotland international has netted a fantastic six goals so far in pre-season matches, including four against St Gallen's U21s during a closed door game this week.

So the Hoops are covered in the striking department, but it's still important for Bayo to get serious competitive action under his belt as soon as possible, especially since he was apparently impressing Lennon.
