Celtic striker Moussa Dembele was the hero once again last night as his penalty against Borussia Monchengladbach kept the Hoops’ Champions League hopes alive (slightly).
Mathematically, they can still qualify for the knock-out stages of Europe’s elite competition but it would require victories against Manchester City and Barcelona, which are both unlikely.
The two final fixtures of Celtic’s Champions League group also make it very difficult for the Scottish champions to overhaul Gladbach and seal a third-place spot that would see them move through to the Europa League- but anything is possible with Dembele in his current vein of form.

By far Celtic’s top-scorer this season, the summer signing from Fulham has scored 16 goals in 24 appearances for the Scottish giants and his form in recent fixtures has been similarly impressive.

Dembele has scored in four of his last six appearances for Celtic and his tally in the Champions League stands at three goals in four appearances, with the young striker adding to his European haul last night after previously netting a brace in a 3-3 draw with Manchester City.
Arriving on a free transfer this summer, with Celtic only having to pay Fulham a development fee, the 20-year-old has already prove himself to be one of the signings of the season.
