Despite sitting at the top of the table and being in the final of the Betfred Cup in recent weeks it seems that honest mistakes are on the up and up.
They don’t much more obvious that when Steven McLean, Alan Muir and Frank Connor all failed to notice Josh Meekings punch away a Leigh Griffiths header during the Inverness Caley Thistle v Celtic Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden last year.
It seems that there is a growing feeling that ‘well they are going to win anyway’ around in the game that means the Hoops should just settle for honest mistakes with a shrug of the shoulders.
Brendan Rodgers has been a measure of diplomacy as he has watched some eye watering decisions go against his side on a weekly basis.
The Hoops boss has kept his powder dry but many Celtic fans would argue that after winning is perfect time to highlight erratic decisions.
It’s not just Celtic that are effected by these decisions, at the weekend Mark McGhee and Jim McIntyre were both left puzzled/frustrated/angered by decisions made in their matches.
With a vow of silence and a few media mouthpieces telling us that ‘these things even out over a season’ to justify incompetence it seems that the current crop of referees will be blighting our enjoyment of the game for years to come.
