Real Madrid manager and France legend Zinedine Zidane believes Moussa Dembele made the right decision in joining Celtic.

The Frenchman was on the radar of some of Europe's biggest clubs before joining the Scottish champions but Zidane thinks he will benefit from the first-team opportunities he will get in the Scottish Premiership.

The former Juventus and Madrid midfielder is quoted by the Daily Record as saying:

"He is a very big singing for Celtic. I like to follow the progress of exciting, young, French players, and I know that Bayern, Monaco and Juventus were all looking at him - so it really is big that Celtic managed to sign him. I think it’s a good move for him, he needs first team football, to develop the skills he already he has and I think he will get that at Celtic. He is still so young, he can look at another move in four or five years time and still then he will only be a very young player."

It was announced last week that Dembele had joined Celtic from Fulham after his contract expired at Craven Cottage.

The 19-year-old had revealed that Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers had persuaded him to join the Scottish champions and Zidane believes the striker has made the right decision in linking up and working under the Northern Irishman:

"For now he has a chance to play for a club who are always challenging for the title. who will be playing Champions League Football, and for a coach who has played a big part in developing some of the best strikers currently in Europe."

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez credits Rodgers for his development into a world class player, and Celtic fans will be hoping that the Celtic manager can work some of his magic on Dembele as well.
