Celtic’s 3-0 win over Dundee on Saturday ensured that they would be top of the Scottish Premiership on Christmas Day, but it also only served to underline just how big a talent the Bhoys have got on their hands in 19-year-old Mikey Johnston.
The youngster has previously been considered a winger, but in the recent absence of Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths, Celtic have been left without a recognised striker and Johnston has filled in.
However, just four days after he came on as a first-half substitute for Edouard and netted his maiden goal for Celtic against Motherwell, the youngster was back on the scoresheet once and in the headlines.
A product of the Celtic youth system, Johnston looked sharp as he led the line and broke the deadlock against Dundee just on the brink of half-time. Then just five minutes in to the second half he doubled the Hoops’ advantage with a well-taken header that went in off the bar.
Johnston is already showing that he is ready to take any opportunity offered to him, and he should surely be considered as a £6m-£9m player already.
So, Celtic fans, we now want to know just how much you would value the Scotland U21 international at. Have your say by voting in the poll below.
