HYS: Should Kris Ajer stay in the starting XI ahead of Filip Benkovic?

Celtic’s exit from the Champions League and early stuttering form in the Scottish Premier League meant that questions marks were quickly brought over their centre-backs, with the likes of Jozo Simunovic, Jack Hendry and Kris Ajer struggling in the absence of Dedryck Boyata.

However, having looked set for an exit the Belgium international will now be with the Bhoys for at least the next four months, and now Brendan Rodgers must find the right centre-back partner for him during that time assuming that he is going to be a regular fixture in the starting XI.

The Northern Irishman boosted his backline with the loan addition of Leicester City’s Filip Benkovic at the end of the transfer window, but the 21-year-old was forced to wait for his debut as Ajer was once again preferred alongside Boyata.

The Norwegian has played every minute of 11 of Celtic’s 13 fixtures in all competitions so far this term, but his place looks sure to come under threat in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Benkovic arrived at the King Power Stadium as a highly-rated centre-back who has picked up plenty of experience with Dinamo Zagreb despite his tender years, and the tall Croatia U21 international looks set for a big future in the game.

Leicester will surely be putting the pressure on for the 21-year-old to get regular minutes, and given how shaky Ajer has looked at times it is now surely time for Rodgers to make the change.

So, Celtic fans, do you think that Rodgers should drop Ajer and start Benkovic? Let us know by voting below…
