Celtic open their Europa League campaign against Rosenborg on Thursday, but is it time for Brendan Rodgers to hand Youssouf Mulumbu his first start?

Celtic have had an up and down start to the season, with a memorable win against Rangers sandwiched inbetween a Champions League heartbreak and a drab affair against St Mirren.

The Hoops do not have the versatile and well-rounded squad they had a couple of seasons ago, but they did make some critical moves late in the transfer window, notably bringing in the experienced Mulumbu on a free signing.

The 31-year-old is yet to make his mark donning the famous Hoops, but Thursday night’s Europa League clash could be the perfect chance to unleash him.

Rosenborg are not a top team, but they do have the ability to cause Rodgers’ side some problems, so the extra defensive stability of having Mulumbu in the team could be huge.

It would also give Olivier Ntcham the freedom to surge forward whenever he wants, a role in which the Frenchman showed against Rangers he can be absolutely lethal.

So, Celtic fans, should you switch things up and use Mulumbu vs Rosenborg? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
