HYS: What position must Celtic strengthen in January?

Celtic fans were furious with their lack of summer transfer activity, so where do the Bhoys need to strengthen their squad in January?

Celtic made a huge misstep this summer, selling two top quality players and opting not to replace them.

While the form of players like Odsonne Edouard and Tom Rogic has helped fans forget about Moussa Dembele and Stuart Armstrong, Brendan Rodgers’ squad is still a little thin in some departments.

It seems unlikely he will pursue another striker, as Edouard is in the form of his life and Leigh Griffiths and Scott Sinclair are more than capable back-ups.

A new winger could be on the cards though, as the squad is not exactly packed with pace on the flanks.

This will be particularly important if they get into the Europa League knockout rounds, where pace on the counter attack is absolutely crucial.

However, the biggest concern is undoubtedly in defence, where neither of Jack Hendry or Kristoffer Ajer have progressed like Rodgers would have hoped.

Filip Benkovic won’t be around forever, and Dedryck Boyata’s future at the club is still uncertain.

Fans will also be hoping for a new right-back, as both Mikael Lustig and Cristian Gamboa have had poor seasons so far, but a Boyata replacement must surely be top of the shopping list.

So, Celtic fans, where does Rodgers need to strengthen the squad in January? What signings are you hoping for? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
