As reported by The Scottish Sun, Celtic are interested in bringing Chelsea youngster Charly Musonda to Glasgow on loan in January.
With injury ruling out Patrick Roberts for a period of months and Celtic lacking direct cover for the likes of Scott Sinclair, it’d be prudent for the club to be on the hunt for attacking midfield talent that can come in and challenge for first team places in January.
One such talent could be Chelsea youngster Charly Musonda.
That’s according to The Scottish Sun, who say the Blues player is looking for first team action and that Celtic are looking to convince Chelsea that they can aid his development with a loan move.
Having recently signed a new five-year deal at Stamford Bridge, he’s clearly highly thought of, but with competition fierce for regular football in Antonio Conte’s starting eleven, a loan move could really bring his game on.
Rated at £4.5m by Transfermarkt, Musonda is a player who hasn’t quite made his mark on the Chelsea first team yet, but is certainly involved on the fringes of Conte’s set-up, making five appearances for the Blues this season including two starts in the EFL Cup.
Given how talented that side is, the fact he is knocking on the door for first team football is a sign he could have enough quality to be a real hit in the Scottish Premiership and potentially the UEFA Europa League too.
Also having first team experience on loan at La Liga side Real Betis, he’s not so raw that he couldn’t compete with Celtic’s regulars for a spot in Brendan Rodgers’ team.
Primarily a left winger, he also has plenty of matches through the middle in attacking midfield and on the right wing, meaning he also adds versatility and depth in a number of areas, vital to Celtic in a busy second half of the season.
This could be a move that is great for all parties.
