In Focus: Ntcham is getting better and better in a Celtic shirt

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Celtic winger James Forrest has paid tribute to teammate Olivier Ntcham after a string of impressive performances in the Hoops midfield.

What’s the story?

Ntcham moved to the Scottish Champions from Manchester City in the summer and although he showed early glimpses of quality, he went through a dip in form with casual performances frustrating fans who were looking for him to improve the first team immediately.

Recently though he’s been showing what he’s all about, especially in Celtic’s last match against Hamilton where he scored a fantastic volley and generally ran the show from the middle of the park.

Teammate James Forrest has paid tribute to his impact, also praising his ability to settle right into the Celtic squad.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the Hoops winger said:

Olivier’s come in the last few games and looked really good. He’s chipped in with a couple of goals and that’s brilliant for everyone. Even when he came in at the start he played well. We have competition for places in the middle of the park and he’s come in and done well. There’s no language barrier as he speaks English really well and that’s a plus for him. Olivier’s quiet but he’s good with all the boys and speaks away fine. The fact his English is so good means he’s settled in.

Can the Frenchman take his newfound confidence and push on to new heights this season?

Huge potential

Ntcham is still just 21 years of age and isn’t even close to making 100 professional appearances in his career, meaning every match is still a learning process for the French U21 international.

If he’s already having an impact on Brendan Rodgers’ side, then the future is bright indeed and one can only imagine how good he can be when he truly gets up to speed at Celtic Park.

In Europe he’s adjusted too, demonstrating last week against Anderlecht that he can make an impact at that level, and with a run of games will be in pretty good shape to face FC Zenit in the UEFA Europa League Round of 32 in February.

With five goals already for the season, and important ones at that, reaching double figures there this season is an excellent target for him and would set the stage for him to have a stellar second season at the Hoops.
