In-form EURO 2016-bound star plays down Celtic transfer rumours

Wigan and Northern Ireland striker Will Grigg has said he is happy to stay with the recently promoted Championship club.

The 24-year-old scored 25 league goals last season as he helped the Latics to promotion from League One.

Grigg is part of the Northern Ireland squad for the European Championship in France, and before flying out for a training camp in Austria in preparation for the tournament he was asked about his future and the rumours that he could move to Scottish champions Celtic:

“At this part of the season there’s always bits and bobs flying around but I am happy at Wigan and I will just concentrate on the Euros now.”

Grigg only joined Wigan from Brentford for approximately £1m last summer and it will take a considerable fee for the Championship side to sell the League One Golden Boot winner.

He sealed his place in the final 23 man squad for Northern Ireland after scoring his first goal for his country against Belarus in a 3-0 win at Windsor Park on Friday night, and he will be hoping to increase his goal tally at the EUROs next month.
