As reported by The Scottish Sun, English Premier League side Leicester City are interested in appointing Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers this summer, as a replacement for Claude Puel.

What's the story?

Puel is still manager at the Foxes, but has been criticised by supporters after a lacklustre 2017/18 season.

The Sun report that managers such as Rafa Benitez and Arsene Wenger have been considered as potential replacements this summer, but that a move to appoint Brendan Rodgers is more likely.

The paper say that the club are looking to show ambition in the transfer window with moves for the likes of Jack Grealish, Patrick Roberts and James Maddison, three young players that would benefit greatly from Rodgers' management.

But is a move for the successful Celtic boss likely to come off?

Likely going nowhere

Rodgers has already made history at Celtic after an unbeaten domestic treble in his first season in charge, followed up by a second successive treble last season, the first time both of those things have ever been achieved in Scottish football.

There's an argument to say he can't deliver much more at the Hoops, but it's clear he is happy and enjoying his current role, with plenty of objectives in the short and long term at the club.

Improvement in Europe is needed and that'll be a huge motivating factor again for him this summer, as is the prospect of becoming the first ever manager to deliver ten league titles in a row in Scotland, finally besting the record set by Jock Stein that was emulated by rivals Rangers in the 80s and 90s.

Leicester are an established Premier League side and could prove tempting to Rodgers in other circumstances, but the pull of Celtic remains too strong at this point and the chances of him leaving Scotland anytime soon seem remote.
