Celtic manager Neil Lennon is a shock candidate for the Everton job should it come available, according to the Mirror.
Current manager David Moyes only has a contract at Goodison up until the end of the season. It has become a priority for Everton to get Moyes to sign on the dotted line but it hasn’t yet happened.
Moyes has been reluctant to discuss his future publicly and time is running out.
It’s believed that Moyes is waiting to see if he can steer his side to Europa League qualification before he re-commits to the job long-term. If Everton were to fall short of Europa League football this season then it could start the alarm-bells ringing for the board and the fans.
It has since come to light that Lennon would be in the frame for the Everton job should a successor be needed.
The Irishman has done an eye-catching job at Celtic this season having kept the SPL side top of the league, albeit without main challengers Rangers, whilst also steering the club to the last 16 of the Champions League.
The Champions League run included one of Celtic’s biggest ever wins and also the shock result of the year as they beat Barcelona 2-1 at Hampden Park.
