As reported exclusively by Football Insider, Celtic are weighing up a summer transfer window move for Queens Park Rangers midfielder Ryan Manning.

What's the story?

The Hoops already have an elite midfield at Celtic Park with the likes of Scott Brown and Olivier Ntcham both playing superbly this season. However, Brendan Rodgers is always on the hunt for young talent and in Republic of Ireland U21 international Ryan Manning, may have found his next prospect.

Football Insider say Celtic have had a long-term interest in the midfielder, scouting him consistently to check on his progress.

Now, the outlet reckons they're eyeing a potential summer deal for the QPR man, with English Premier League club Crystal Palace also said to be interested.

Rated at £225,000 by Transfermarkt, he's well within reach of the Bhoys.

Who is he?

Still just 21 years of age, Manning has made 36 appearances for QPR since signing for the club in January 2015 but this season has mostly been utilised from the bench.

A versatile player who can play in a number of positions across the midfield, he's also a key performer for the Republic of Ireland U21 side, scoring three times in six appearances.

He is definitely not the finished article as far as the Hoops are concerned but is still young enough to improve and could become a future international.

Under the guidance of Brendan Rodgers, who has a track record of developing young talent, he could flourish in new surroundings should the Hoops make their move, providing depth to their midfield if nothing else.

There's a strong history of exceptional Irish players at Celtic, so is Manning set to become the next fan favourite at Celtic Park from across the Irish Sea?
