As reported by Football Insider, Celtic are interested in signing Bayern Munich defende Thomas Isherwood this summer.

What's the story?

Since Brendan Rodgers has arrived in Glasgow, his Celtic side has been mainly composed of young talented players who have enormous potential but are still learning the game.

Moussa Dembele, Olivier Ntcham, Kieran Tierney Patrick Roberts and more are all in the early stages of their careers and all have been stand-outs for the Hoops over the last two seasons.

It makes sense then that they would be on the hunt for more emerging talent during this summer's transfer window.

One player that fits that profile is Bayern Munich youth defender Thomas Isherwood.

Football Insider report the Hoops are lining up a move for him this summer, ready to test Bayern's desire to keep the 20-year-old, whose contract is set to expire soon.

The outlet reckon that Celtic have scouted him on multiple occasions this season.

Who is he?

The 6ft 4in defender has yet to make a first team appearance for Bayern but has been a regular for their youth sides since joining from Swedish side IF Bromma in 2015.

Capped at U19 for Sweden, he now needs regular first team action to progress further, something that Celtic are in a great position to offer next season.

The Scottish Premiership is a great learning experience for young talent under Brendan Rodgers, with the standard of the division being an excellent proving ground for non-established players, combined with pressure of having to win every match at a big club like Celtic.

With the potential to play in the UEFA Champions League too, the Hoops are one of the most attractive teams in Europe for developing stars like Isherwood.

Can they convince him his future lies in Glasgow?
