Celtic continue their defence of the Scottish Cup this weekend, taking on Partick Thistle in the fifth round at Celtic Park.

The holders are hoping for another extended in run in the competition to spark dreams of a domestic treble of trophies for the second season in a row.

The Jags have not beaten Celtic since 1995, a record that stretches back 26 matches, so the Hoops can definitely be confident of picking up the win they need to head into the quarter-finals.

With a huge European match ahead next mid-week, it could also be an opportunity for Brendan Rodgers to change up his team selection, giving some key first team stars a rest and checking on the progress of others.

The fact Celtic lost last week to Kilmarnock is perhaps an indication it's time to freshen up his starting eleven.

Here are THREE players who deserve more game time on Saturday...

Calvin Miller

An unused substitute for four matches over the last few weeks, it seems that left-sided player Calvin Miller is again working his way back into Brendan Rodgers' first team thoughts.

Developed as a left winger, under Rodgers he's been utilised as left-back cover for Kieran Tierney, and if there's any player that deserves a rest from action this Saturday then it's Tierney.

The Scotland international has started a massive 41 matches for the Hoops this season, more than a full season's worth for most players. That's more appearances than any other Celtic player and it can be argued it's showing in his game.

He's not been his usual dynamic self over the last couple of months, or at least hasn't been consistent with it, and Celtic need him at his peak if they're to get a result against the Russians on Thursday.

It's also a good chance to see what stage Calvin Miller is at and whether he can provide relief for Tierney on a more regular basis. His last start for the Scottish champions was way back in August.

Cristian Gamboa

After two months of complete absence, Cristian Gamboa has returned as an unused substitute for Celtic's last three matches, indicating that his Hoops career might not be over quite yet, even if he's never been fancied by the Hoops manager.

The Costa Rican international hasn't ever really put a foot wrong in domestic action for Celtic and should have more than enough to compete adequately against Partick Thistle, even if he hasn't started since October.

With Mikael Lustig on the sidelines with an injury, Brendan Rodgers has been forced to change the shape of his defensive line recently but Gamboa can provide natural defensive width on the right flank, and knowing he is ready to play for the first team gives the Celtic boss more tactical options ahead of the game against the Russians.

Odsonne Edouard

Odsonne Edouard has had a stop-start debut season at Celtic but Brendan Rodgers has perhaps given him more game time than expected when he joined from Paris Saint-Germain on loan.

With Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths out of form or injured for large spells of the season, Rodgers has relied on the young Frenchman to present a consistent threat in the final third and with six goals in 17 appearances, nine of which were starts, he's performed about as expected for his age.

Moussa Dembele was again well below his best last week against Kilmarnock and although he'll likely be utilised against Zenit, his motivation levels may not be quite where they should be for the visit of Partick.

It's another chance for Edouard to show he can be an important player for Celtic and if he fires the Hoops into the quarter finals then he'll be in contention for a big Europa League start.
