Ultimate XI: Picking Celtic’s greatest right-back since Lisbon
Jim Craig wore the number two shorts in Lisbon in between shifts as a dentist and remained the first choice right-back until his departure five years later.
After a brief period Danny McGrain took over with all subsequent full-backs measured up against that legend.
The only flaw in Danny’s game was in front of goal but having battled back from three major illnesses and injuries his goal tally can be forgiven.
Since McGrain left the club in 1987 Tom Boyd has been the only regular in that position with few contenders managing to survive beyond two seasons.
In recent times the position has been under threat with the introduction of a 3-5-2 formation and wing-backs with the current manager, Brendan Rodgers experimenting with that formation from time to time.
After a period falling out of fashion having full-backs comfortable receiving the ball from their keeper is all important with traditionalists still hankering for full-backs that can actually defend as well as get forward.
But who is Celtic’s greatest right-back since that night in Lisbon? We’ve picked five candidates for you to look through before voting…
The team is based on players who have played since that afternoon in Lisbon, the Lions have been left out of contention for this vote.
