It was one of many strange features about Ronny Deila's tenure at Celtic.

After speaking out about how he didn't want to bring players in on loan, he promptly found himself with five players brought in on short term deals.

The pessimists were pleased that no Boerrigter type deals were signed off while others wondered about the trust that the board had in their new manager.

As his reign kicked off with the double shambles of Legia Warsaw and Maribor there was a sign of relief in the stands that serious money hadn't been put in place to back the Norwegian.

The impact of the loan bhoys can be measured by the fact that very few Celtic fans could name the not so famous five.

Jason Denayer certainly did himself no harm with his form at Celtic, unfortunately after he returned to Manchester City Deila was able to bring in his original target- Dedyck Boyata on a permanent deal.

If you can name the loan Bhoys without google help go to the front of the queue, it's highly unlikely that Brendan Rodgers will venture down a similar path...

Arrived from Manchester City and showed his class straight away.

At 19-years-of-age, he cantered to the Young Player of the Year award forming a great partnership with Virgil van Dijk.

There was never any real prospect of Celtic getting a second loan or making the deal permanent.

Last season he struggled to make an impact at Galatasaray and it's a similar story this term on loan at Sunderland.

Made his debut away to Legia Warsaw the day after signing, with his hoops career going downhill fast leading to a sharp return to Cardiff City.

There is no need to remind any Celtic fan where he moved to next, scoring home and away for Malmo as Celtic again crashed out of the Champions League.

Berget worked his way back into the Norwegian international side and is still playing in Sweden for Malmo.

Scored a screamer 14 minutes into his Celtic debut away to Red Bull Salzburg but it was all downhill from that point.

After making just four starts he was returned to Rubin Kazan in the summer of 2015 and earned himself a sunny loan deal to Las Palmes in Gran Canaria.

Bobby, as he was known, has now signed a permanent deal with Panathinaikos. Have boots, will travel is the motto.

JOHN GUIDETTI

Guidetti

Arrived in glory to a fanfare but left on the quiet with his star setting before Christmas.

At one stage there were fears that Celtic wouldn't be able to compete with a £5m bid during the January transfer window.

Celta Vigo jumped in with a five year contract which Guidetti jumped at. Last season he scored six times in La Liga while working his way into the Swedish international side.

This season he has scored twice in the Europa League, plus once in La Liga...

His Celtic career was over before it started after being hit with a racism charge for an incident involving Aberdeen's Shay Logan.

In total he started just five Celtic games before returning to Aston Villa.

Last season he turned out for Frosinone, who finished second bottom of Serie A, before moving on to Crotone, who are currently bottom of the table in Serie A.
