Celtic manager Neil Lennon has confirmed that the club have agreed a deal for Ismaila Soro, per BBC Sport.

Lennon hopes the transfer for the 21-year-old can be wrapped up in the next few days and therefore he will not be registered in time for Saturday's clash against Partick Thistle.

But what will the relatively unknown talent bring to Paradise?

What's the word?

Well, we posed that question to Celtic's correspondent for The Athletic, Kieran Devlin, in his Q&A column on Friday afternoon and also asked whether he could replace Scott Brown.

With Brown firmly in the twilight of his career at 34 years old, there is a chance the Bnei Yehuda enforcer could step into his shoes in the coming years.

And Devlin's description of the imminent recruit suggests Soro boasts a similar profile to the veteran legend.

"Quite similar. Energetic, positionally smart and technically sound defensive midfielder, decent short-passing and dribbling from stuff I've seen but that's nothing too in-depth to be fair. Looks a good bit of business."

All-round encouraging signs

It's clear from Devlin's response that he has been impressed by what he has seen from the Ivorian.

The player described is an all-rounder with ball-carrying prowess and a high energy approach, and that's something Celtic can certainly benefit from during the final months of the season.

While it's too early to judge his long term credentials, at just £2m Soro could prove to be a genuine bargain if he can cement his place in Lennon's midfield in the years to come.

For now, though, fans will likely turn to YouTube in search of highlight reels and snippets of video footage of their new signing in action.
