Rangers were shocked by Kilmarnock as they fell to a 2-1 defeat on Wednesday.

The Scottish giants took a 1-0 lead through new signing Jermain Defoe but were unable to see the game out.

Killie equalised, however, after Joe Worrall, on loan from Nottingham Forest, made a horrendous mistake; having dwelled on the ball for a little too long in his own half, he was robbed by Eamonn Brophy, who sprinted through to finish.

Jordan Jones, who will join Rangers at the end of the season in news that was confirmed by the club's official website earlier this month, scored the winning goal in the 69th minute, lashing a speculative drive into the bottom corner to leave the Glasgow giants languishing in third and Kilmarnock in second in the Scottish Premiership standings.

Celtic, who have a game in hand on both sides, remain one point clear at the top of the table.

The mistake from Worrall could well prove costly come the end of the season, as Steven Gerrard's side continue to chase their old rivals at the top of the table.

While Connor Goldson is injured, the Liverpool legend has been left with Worrall, Gareth McAuley and Nikola Katic as his senior centre-back options.

And supporters were left to fume over the former's latest error. Some have insisted that he should have been substituted before he was given the chance to make the mistake, while others would rather see him dropped from the first-team completely.
