The former England international is being allowed to leave Villa Park on a free transfer, although owner Tony Xia has confirmed the club will continue to subsidise the final year of his contract.
No. Sorry for that. We have agreed to cover part of his wage of the one year contract left. https://t.co/m23W7iGpgb

Earlier this week, The Daily Record revealed that Rangers manager Mark Warburton had travelled to Manchester to hold transfer talks with the former Premier League title winner.
That was followed by The Scottish Sun claiming yesterday that the 34-year-old would make a decision on a potential move to the Ibrox Stadium within the next 24 hours.
And it appears Lescott has now made his decision, with Sky Sports reporting that the former Manchester City star has snubbed the chance to sign for the Scottish outfit.

That could be due to rivalled transfer interest from Sunderland, who were also linked with the 6 foot 3 centre-back by The Daily Record earlier this week.
