This weekend is a potentially massive one for Rangers Football Club. The two days of Scottish Premiership action could a long way to deciding how the final few months of the season play out and if it all goes to plan, excitement amongst the supporter will reach highs not seen for years.

The Gers host Hearts on Saturday, playing before Celtic make a massive trip to Pittodrie to face Aberdeen. Currently nine points behind the Hoops, Graeme Murty's side know that a win is essential to put the pressure on at the top of the table.

Celtic are arguably as vulnerable as they have been under Brendan Rodgers' management, coming off the back of another disappointing result in Russia, making a long trip back to Scotland and having picked up just one point from their last two league matches.

Can Rangers show some form at home and see off the threat of Craig Levein's visitors?

This is how the Light Blues must line-up if they're to get the job done...

Defence: Experience can lead the way

While winning comfortably last week, the fact that Rangers shipped three goals to Hamilton must be seen as a concern for Graeme Murty.

With such an important fixture this weekend, it could be the perfect time for him to re-introduce Bruno Alves to the starting eleven with the player having now taken part in full training with the first team for two weeks.

Alongside another experienced international, Russell Martin, the pair can guide their side through the fixture and nullify the threat of the Hearts attack.

David Bates has shown good progress this season and he he still has a big role to play in the coming months, but it's time to test the Martin/Alves partnership going forward to see if the pair can gel and stabilise the Rangers defence, flanked by James Tavernier and Declan John.

Midfield: Docherty drops out

Greg Docherty is showing plenty of promise in the Rangers midfield but has shown that there's work to be done on the defensive side of the game too. He isn't quite the finished article and given the importance of the fixture, it's important that Graeme Murty brings in some experience and leadership to the middle of the park.

Jason Holt is again available after suspension and having recently been awarded with the captain's armband, he's the man that Murty is looking for to provide that against his old club Hearts on Saturday.

Rangers need his ball winning skills to complement the in-form Sean Goss, with the creative Jamie Murphy and Daniel Candeias available on the flanks to penetrate the final third and create the goals to put pressure on Celtic.

Attack: Windass can support expertly again

There's no doubting that the in-form player in Scottish football right now is Josh Windass. With nine goals and two assists in his last five matches, he's enjoying the best spell of his Rangers career so far.

He can perform that role again on Saturday in support of Alfredo Morelos, who should get the nod over Jason Cummings.

Playing through the middle behind the Colombian has paid massive dividends for the Light Blues this season and the pair have a superb 31 goals between them this season.

If victory is to come this weekend then the duo will likely be at the heart of it and Graeme Murty must ensure they are well supplied from wide areas. If the chances fall to either, you'd fancy them to stick them away and bag the three points.
