Alfredo Morelos found his first goal of the season on Thursday night, so do Rangers need to sign a new striker before the window closes?
Morelos has come under plenty of fire from fans this summer who feel the striker needs replacing, but he got off the mark for the season against Osijek on Thursday.
The Colombian did superbly well to hold off the Croatian defender, before flicking a delightful James Tavernier cross in for the winner.
Steven Gerrard heaped praise on the 22 year-old after the game, perhaps hoping a little bit of confidence will help him find his best form.
“We’re very happy with him,” Gerrard told RangersTV.
“His application and his work-rate in training, on and off the pitch, has been superb. And I think he got his reward tonight for that. I thought his performance was selfless. He ran his socks off for the team.
The Gers signed Umar Sadiq on loan earlier this summer, but it still feels like they’re missing something up front.
The two strikers are both young, and it’s hard to imagine them combining for enough goals to fire the club past Celtic towards the title.
Morelos is a good player, and his value to the squad is underappreciated, but despite his goal on Thursday Gerrard simply must sign an experienced goalscorer before the window slams shut.
