When Rangers manager Steven Gerrard recruited 15 new players during the summer, there was always going to be a few who failed to make the cut.

Umar Sadiq was one of the new arrivals, but he has made just three appearances for the Gers so far this season.

The Nigerian striker, who moved to Ibrox from Roma on a loan deal, has been on the pitch for just 27 minutes in total.

In fact, Sadiq has not featured in Gerrard’s team since August, which suggests that the 21-year-old will not play a significant role this season.

The young hitman has been on Roma’s books since 2016 when he signed from Spezia, but as he is still learning his craft, the forward has made just six appearances, scoring two goals.

At the moment it seems unlikely that Sadiq will get many minutes at Rangers over the course of the season, so is it best to cut him loose?
