James Tavernier has taken loads of stick from Rangers fans over the last few weeks, so should the Gers cash in on their captain in January?

Rangers rejected an offer from West Brom for Tavernier this summer, but should they reconsider selling the Englishman in January?

The 26-year-old was appointed captain when Steve Gerrard arrived this summer, and fans are growing more and more infuriated with his lack of leadership.

Put simply, the right-back is not captain material, as he tends to go into hiding when the going gets tough.

Gerrard will know more than anybody that his captain should be performing in all the big games, and Tavernier was poor in the League Cup semi-final defeat.

Having signed a new contract at Ibrox earlier this year, the skipper would command quite a hefty fee if he were to depart, especially if a Premier League club came calling.

Gerrard has stressed himself that he may need to dip into the January market to find more attacking talent, and the Tavernier money could go a long way to making this happen.

So, Rangers fans, should you cash in on Tavernier in January? Or is it a ludicrous idea? Let us know your thought by voting in the poll below…
