Steven Gerrard hinted recently that he will be active in the January transfer market, but where do Rangers need to strengthen their squad?

Rangers fans were delighted when Gerrard warned players that he will be on the lookout for fresh talent in January, not just because it showed that the gaffer isn’t accepting mediocrity.

It also means fans are in for an exciting January, as they hope to build on some of the fantastic performances so far this season.

Unfortunately, those stunning displays have usually come sandwiched between two poor ones, so where can Gerrard add to his squad?

It seems unlikely he will move for new attackers, as Alfredo Morelos is in the form of his life and the likes of Glenn Middleton and Ryan Kent have been some of the standout performers.

The biggest culprit for lack of creativity is the midfielder, where the boss will surely look to bring in a new playmaker.

There are also issues in defence, where James Tavernier and Jon Flanagan are struggling, while none of the centre-backs are in great form at the moment.

However, a creative midfielder must surely be top of the shopping list, and Gerrard could be risking his own future if he doesn’t sign a new number ten.
