Rangers have had a wild start to the season under Steven Gerrard, so could it be time to give Alfredo Morelos a rest?
The Gers have now officially had their worst start to a league season for 29 years, picking up just five points from their first four games.
The loss at Celtic on Sunday was particularly disappointing, as it came off the back of an incredible result in Russia just three days earlier.
Quite simply, the players looked absolutely knackered during the 1-0 defeat at Celtic Park, and none more so than Morelos.
The Colombian striker has just signed a new deal with the club, so it’s clear that his discipline problems have not affected Gerrard’s view of him.
However, the 22 year-old has been extremely busy so far, and with qualification to the Europa League group stages secured it isn’t going to get any easier.
That said, Gerrard would be wise to give Kyle Lafferty the nod up front on his own for the next couple of games, as the Gers face Dundee at Ibrox before a trip to Villarreal.
With his recent discipline problems and some obvious fatigue, a few weeks behind Lafferty could be just what the doctor ordered to get the fiery youngster prepared for the long season ahead.
So, Rangers fans, what do you think? Does Morelos need a break? Or would it be foolish to bench an in-form striker? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
