The Athletic’s Rangers correspondent Jordan Campbell has taken aim at Ianis Hagi following the club’s 1-0 win over Ross County on Sunday.
The 10-cap Romania international – who signed for the Scottish giants on a loan deal from Genk in January – quickly lit up Ibrox with some stunning displays, netting a winner against Hamilton while also recording two goals and one assist across both of Rangers’ Europa League Round of 32 meetings with Braga.
However, he has slowed down somewhat to the point where Campbell has decided to criticise Hagi on Twitter.
The journalist was tweeting following the 1-0 win over Ross County, in which the 21-year-old didn’t even feature.
Campbell’s comments came after he was prompted by a supporter to talk about the young attacker, and while he wasn’t exactly scathing towards the son of Romanian legend Gheorghe Hagi, he still had some critical words saved for him.
You can see what was tweeted in full below:
When have I been big on Hagi? I said he is really two footed but would need to improve his awareness as he lost the ball too much at Genk. He’s had a few big moments but overall I think he’s been below the standard expected.
