Rangers secured a stunning home win against Feyenoord in the Europa League on Thursday evening but it could've been more comfortable had captain James Tavernier scored his penalty in the 9th minute.

His manager, Steven Gerrard, defended him after the 1-0 victory, saying there will be "no finger-pointing" in his post-match press conference, via The Sun.

Tavernier, who was borderline metronomic from the spot last season, scoring 12 out of 14, has now missed two penalties from two attempts this season against Progres Niederkorn and Feyenoord.

Despite a dip in goal scoring form, the Rangers skipper has still managed to accumulate five assists and one goal - showing his creative influence is still vital to the Ibrox club.

Nevertheless, fans are keen for him to be removed from penalty-taking duties for future fixtures. Indeed, both Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe are seemingly waiting in the wings, ready to take on the responsibility.
