McCoist blames Celtic fans over Rangers administration rumour

Rangers fans, staff and players have gone through a lot of turmoil over the years due to the club’s financial problems.

The Glasgow-based giants dropped from the top tier down to the third division of the Scottish Football League.

Thanks to a healthier financial situation, the Gers have since returned to the elite stage, but rumours have been circulating that troubles are on the horizon.

The Scottish Sun reported earlier in the week that bookmakers had suspended betting on Rangers getting relegated due to threats of administration.

Ally McCoist, who was manager of the club when they fell into administration in February 2012, has addressed the latest rumours.

The Scotsman left in September 2015, and since then, Rangers have had Mark Warburton and later Pedro Caixinha in charge.

Graeme Murty is currently overseeing first-team duties, and will do until the end of the season.

While speaking on talkSPORT, McCoist denied suggestions that the club are on the verge of hitting another financial disaster.

In fact, the former coach has suggested that the fans of Rangers’ Old Firm rivals Celtic are behind the rumours.

“That’s the Celtic division. They’ve played to the gallery and you’ve just played right back. Everything’s fine at the moment. At this moment in time, I don’t see any problems and hopefully that will be the case. A false alarm. And I think deep down, every supporter in the country would hope it’s a false alarm.”
