Pundit View: Ferguson has got it all wrong about Rangers and Ryan Kent

Rangers will have to shell out big money to land Ryan Kent on a permanent deal this summer, but Barry Ferguson thinks they should whatever it takes.

What’s the word?

According to The Liverpool Echo, the Gers will have to splash out £12m to sign Kent this summer.

The Reds loanee has been phenomenal for most of his first campaign at Ibrox, and fans are surely hoping it’s not the last.

Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he’s still got it! Check out the video below…

Well, Ferguson likes what he sees too and clearly doesn’t care what the price tag on the youngster is, as the man who made over 150 league appearances at Ibrox told PLZ Soccer.

“Rangers have got to pull out the stops to get him. Whether Steven Gerrard can get a favour off Liverpool. He has got to be a major signing,” he said.

Too expensive

Kent has played 39 times in all competitions this season, scoring six and adding nine assists.

There’s no question he has been one of the best players in the team throughout the campaign and is only going to get better.

However, £12m is an awful lot of money for a left-winger when the Gers already have about five of those in the squad, if you include the injured Jamie Murphy and incoming Jordan Jones.

Kent is good, but he is not a world-beater, and given that Gerrard has other glaring holes in his squad to fill the 22 year-old should not be a priority at his current price.
