BT Sport pundits Chris Sutton and Darrell Currie have picked their Scottish Premiership team of the year, selecting three Rangers players.

What have they said?

Sutton isn't known as the most pro-Rangers media voice in the country, consistently criticising the Ibrox club for performances and perceived failures.

Recently he blasted Steven Gerrard, his players and supporters for getting too excited about the Gers' win over Celtic at Ibrox.

Still, even he can recognise the top performers in the country and alongside BT Sport presenter Currie has given the stand-out performers in Gerrard's team their due.

Have they got it spot on?

With 30 goals this season, Alfredo Morelos has clearly been the most the consistent and impressive striker in 2018/19.

Ryan Kent has dazzled with his left flank displays and while his overall goal contribution left a little to be desired, there aren't many wingers who have been so important to their side's seasons.

In defence too the selection of James Tavernier has merit. The Ibrox captain has been a designated penalty taker this term, scoring an outrageous 17 goals from defence. His 20 assists prove his stats aren't just inflated by spot kicks though, clearly being the division's outstanding attacking right-back.

If Rangers are to have any chance of securing silverware next season then they must retain at least Morelos and Tavernier.

Kent's future is a bit more up in the air but if Gerrard can convince Liverpool to send him back to Glasgow this summer then no doubt the Gers will be towards the top end of the table once again.
