Former Rangers striker Gordon Dalziel has been speaking about Alfredo Morelos to Radio Clyde, and his words are certainly interesting.

Dalziel - who played for the Gers from 1979 to 1983 - revealed that he thinks the Colombia international lacks belief when facing arguably Scotland's best side right now, whereas the Rangers No.20 always looks confident of finding the net against smaller teams.

Morelos endured a nightmare outing in Sunday's Betfred Cup final, missing a penalty while also squandering a number of other chances as he failed to add to his 25 goals this season.

What did he say?

After full-time, Dalziel told Radio Clyde: "I don't know about trying too hard, but every time I watch him against Celtic, especially today with the amount of chances and the positions he puts himself in, it looks like he's not got the belief of putting the ball in the back of the net."

Something Morelos must sort out

Following Sunday's final, Morelos has now gone ten Old Firm derby games without a goal against Celtic.

No disrespect to the other sides in Scotland, but their quality isn't truly comparable to Celtic, nor are they comparable to sides in the Premier League, La Liga or Serie A.

Incidentally, Morelos revealed to Colombian outlet Win Sports that he would like to look for a bigger club at the end of the current campaign, ideally in the Premier League although he mentioned Spain and Italy as potential destinations.

"I hope to keep doing very well and look for a bigger club, in the Premier League at the end of the season. I'd like also the Spanish league or the Italian one."

However, if Morelos is to be a success in these divisions, and truly does have a mental block against Celtic as Dalziel believes, he must sort out his hoodoo against Neil Lennon's side.

If he departs Glasgow having not conquered Celtic due to a supposed lack of belief, then one might feel that he will struggle to net against sides in England, Spain or Italy.

If he wants to realise his own personal ambitions, Morelos must learn how to not get carried away trying too hard to score against bigger sides, and must conquer his own doubts and lack of belief against more imposing teams.
