Rangers defender Bruno Alves is nearing a first team return after Graeme Murty confirmed he took part in full training this week.

The Portuguese defender limped out of the 0-0 derby draw vs Celtic over the festive period and has been missing ever since, allowing fringe defenders to stake a claim in the Light Blues' defensive line in his absence.

Last summer's much-hyped arrival has failed to completely convince supporters so far and with the emergence of David Bates and Russell Martin, some even believe he's not guaranteed a start when fully fit again.

Others though reckon his return is a big boost to the Rangers first team, with his experience and competition wining mentality unmatched by any other player in Scotland.

Is Sunday's match away to Hamilton too soon for first team action, or should Murty throw him in to build his fitness and confidence again?
