Rangers fans are excited by Steven Gerrard’s staff picks to support his management role

New Rangers boss Steven Gerrard announced the five-man backroom staff that will be joining him at Ibrox on Thursday, ahead of his first week at Auchenhowie.

Four of the five appointments have Liverpool connections.

New assistant manager Gary McAllister played alongside the Anfield legend in the early 2000s, also coaching at the club when Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers was in charge.

First team coach Michael Beale is a highly-rated individual who worked with Liverpool’s U23s side readying young talent for the first team before moving to Sao Paolo to become assistant manager there.

Gerrard has also brought his assistant from the Liverpool U18s set-up, Tom Culshaw, to be Rangers’ new technical coach, as well as the lead fitness coach for Liverpool’s U23s side, Jordan Milsom.

Colin Stewart will remain the Light Blues’ goalkeeping coach, completing the new Rangers boss’ staff.

Rangers supporters are excited by all of the appointments, believing it gives the club a great chance of competing for the major honours in Scottish football next season.
