Rangers midfielder Ross McCrorie has moved to Portsmouth on loan for the coming season.
Neither club have yet confirmed the switch, but Football Scotland reported on Friday that the 21-year-old has signed a one-year loan deal, rejecting the chance to join Sunderland instead.
The outlet believe that the English League One side will also have the option to buy the player next summer should he impress, although no fee has been reported.
Thogden challenged himself to DM 100 footballers on Instagram. Find out who replied in the video below…
The arrivals of Glen Kamara and Steven Davis in January saw the midfielder fall down the pecking order at Ibrox, with the signing of Joe Aribo this summer adding even more competition.
Plenty of Rangers fans were supportive of a loan move for the player after reports on Thursday, but many have been taken by surprise with the option to buy element of the reported deal.
Supporters can’t quite believe that Gerrard would potentially let the player leave on a permanent basis, taking to Twitter to share their thoughts…
Why we agreed to an option to buy for McCrorie after his loan to Pompey is beyond me. The boy has huge potential.… https://t.co/iDBHnaartk

Quite disappointed that Rangers have given Pompey option to buy Ross McCrorie following a loan move. Thought he’d have a part to play moving forward even Gerrard said a future captain. Don’t get it at all.

Not sure we’ve got this one right @RangersFC true Ross McCrorie needed game time but the option to buy will more than likely mean we lose one of the most promising Scottish players we’ve produced for a long time.

If it was just a loan then that would be s great move however the option to buy is horrible, he’s one of the best young talents Scotland has to offer. Losing him would be a disaster

Could well be the 1st mistake of the gaffers managerial career, very disappointed if the sell on clause is true, thought Ross could have been a future captain for us,Portsmouth have won a watch with this one.

He is the best CDM in our team. Unique to the core. Loan YES Option to buy? DISGRACE

I think it was a great idea to loan him out but the option to buy is absolutely ridiculous he could be a future rangers captain and unless that fee is 10m+ then no way should he be sold

Agree on loan but option to buy is madness ???
