Rangers fans are keen on making a move for Martin Skrtel

Rangers are in the hunt to sign Martin Skrtel this summer, according to The Daily Record.

The paper say that Steven Gerrard has held promising discussions with the player about making the switch to Ibrox, with his contract expiring at Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

The report states that the Gers tried to sign the Slovakian international during last summer’s transfer window and in January, but that there now could finally be a willingness on the defender’s part to move to Glasgow.

A former teammate of Gerrard at Liverpool, Skrtel is now 34-years-old, so there’ll certainly be a few eyebrows raised if he does join the Rangers squad.

However, he has plenty of experience at the top level and would strengthen a position that currently has a 21-year-old and a 22-year-old competing for places.

Some fans are certainly interested in seeing a deal go ahead, taking to Twitter over the last 24 hours to share their thoughts…
